Congratulations, Lady Panthers

I recently stumbled across something I feared no longer existed. In my recent visits to school functions there is something missing, a sense of "PRIDE". Back in the day {HA! HA!}
you could feel it in the air at the football stadium as soon as you entered. We were there to represent and had no intention taking a loss without a fight. Proud of who we were, where we were from and always making our presence known. Clearly it had its drama and excitement as well as its disappointments. This was the code to live by.
So are we as parents to blame. Do we no longer attempt to instill this quality in our children.
Is this virtual world that has swallowed our children stolen a sense of the reality from us. I believe that supporting and encouraging your children is vital to their development, and the adults they will become.
I took an adventure and followed this softball team on their journey to the state playoffs. I covered their area tournament hosted by EXCEL, the first here in their new DEN. They finished 2nd losing only to Mobile Christian. This won them a ticket to the regional playoffs in Gulf Shores. After a very long hot day they had earned their place at the state playoffs held in Montgomery. They took 5th place in state playing against varsity teams loaded with juniors and seniors and holding their own. They are a young team consisting of freshmen with 2 sophomores and 1 senior. Softball is truly a game of individuals coming together as a team. No one player makes or breaks the team, it takes them all to play the game. The discipline and hard work has paid off this year as they have made their mark in this sport. They are exciting to watch and not only do they know the game and play it well but they know each other, anticipating the others next step. They are quite comical in the way they play and the more fun they have the better they play. When they take the field they take it with an enthusiasm and pride that bleeds strait through to those of us who are there for support. The stands come alive and you can feel the anticipation in the air. I feel these girls should be commended for there accomplishments. They will truly be a team to watch in the future.

What's New

Hello everyone things have been crazy busy and I just wanted to share a few of the new opportunities I have been given. First I was approached and asked to take part in the new program for the To Kill A Mockingbird play. Being from Monroeville and having met Harper Lee and gotten to know her in my salon it was an honor to be asked to participate. There are allot of Monroe County citizens who give of their time to perform this play, and it takes allot of dedication and team work to bring it together. If you have never taken the opportunity to see a performance I urge you to not only to see the play for the experience but also to support the Monroe County Court House Museum. Below is just one of the many images I was able to capture.

I was then given the opportunity to work with Monroeville's new Mayor Mike Kennedy. The city was doing a new build board featuring the new Mayor along with a few of the Mocking Bird Court girls. I was given the task of providing the image that would be featured and now stands above the board of education buildings. This is truly a moment in time as Mrs. Farrish whom has served our city for many years passes on the torch to Mr. Kennedy. I wish him a prosperous term and hope to work with both he and the city again.

The latest adventure to come my way was participating in the mew YMCA campaign. This campaign has been designed to raise money to support our local Y which we all enjoy in some fashion. Weather our children play Y sports, go to summer camp, or as adults work out in their gyms it is a place in which we are all connected. I provided the images that grace the cover of their new brochures and the new T-shirts. The images were a new concept and I will admit I had to be very imaginative. Each image was taken here in Monroe County and has its own significance. The Y, is from a tree in which timber supplies most of our industry. The M, is from the Bo Radley house (a character from the To Kill A Mocking Bird novel and a play prop from the play reenactment) from behind the court house and signifies what most people identify Monroe County with historically. The C, Is the dome above our very own Post office here in Monroeville. Its significance is simply that it connects us all family and friends. The A, was taken from Monroeville Presbyterian Church and signifies spirituality. Each of these in some way or another is what the Y is all about, a community of connected people coming together in fellowship in a healthy clean environment. Come support your local Y and be apart of helping grow your community and what it has to offer your children.

...give a little, gain allot.

It is a wonderful thing to be asked to record ones most treasured moments and memories. Their is a great sense of accomplishment as a artist and photographer in that respect. To all these new challenges and the people who gave me the opportunities I am for ever thankful. It is wonderful to recognized in my community and for my work and creativity to be desired to represent our County. I hope to continue to work and provide services to my community, friends, and family.
